Doctorate Degree

In the four-year period 2021-2024, 77 students were pursuing a master's degree and 135 were pursuing a doctorate in the PPGL. These numbers represent that it is the largest program at the Federal University of Pará and the largest program in ​​Linguistics and Literature in northern Brazil.

In this four-year period, the participation of students from outside the state, the northern region and the country was distributed as follows:

Master's degree: 03 students from other states and other regions and 03 foreigners.

Doctorate: 28 from other states and regions and 03 foreigners.

This new reality further pluralizes the research universes and broadens our theoretical and methodological reflections, as it includes indigenous languages, but now also Tetum from East Timor, Kimbundu from Angola, in addition to Portuguese and other Indo-European languages.

In the second half of 2024, the PPGL Extension Committee sent an online form to the Program's students, with the purpose of outlining their profile. The following responded to the form:

- 61 Literary Studies students

- 47 Linguistic Studies students.

In this universe, 74 are PhD students out of 35 Master's students. From the responses, we obtained the following information:

* In 2024, PPGL scholarships are financed by PROEX - CAPES Excellence Program, but there are also 02 master's scholarships and 01 doctoral scholarship financed by the government of East Timor.
